Hi, my name's Mary Margaret and I'm a Fashion Intern this summer here at Seventeen!
I'm a fashion design major at Syracuse University. Something I love to do is take clothes I already have and modify them to make them my own as well as design and make my own accessories. I am so excited to get to work on the Seventeen.com style blog and share my DIY fashion ideas with you this summer.
My first DIY item is actually this tank top I wore on my first day of work at Seventeen.
Here's what you'll need to create this fringed and studded tank:
1. Tank top, Forever 21 for $9.
2. Two yards of fringe, Hancock Fabrics about $6
3. A pack of 50 pyramid studs, studsandspikes.com, $4
5. Small pliers
1. Sewing needles at Joann Fabric and Craft store, $3
2. Thread that matches the color of the fringe, $2 - $6.
FRINGED AND STUDDED TANK STEPS
Step 1. Lay the fringe along the neckline of the tank top and hand stitch the fringe to the tank, trim at end.
Step 2. Repeat 2 more times starting about an inch under the first layer. You will get a layered effect by doing this.
Step 3. Apply pyramid studs to neckline right over top layer of fringe. To apply the stud, push the pointy bottom part of the stud through the fabric and fold in with plyers.
So, what do you guys think? Could you (would you???) make this? I want to hear your thoughts!
Let me know if you guys have any DIY ideas to share on this blog this summer.
Good luck DIYing! xo Mary Margaret
